About Me

Hi! I am Malena. Thanks for visiting The Neighborhood. I am part of a family that highly values academics. My father is an educator, my mother a doctor, and both of my sisters pursued higher education. I was always taught to value the inherent joy of learning over academic achievement. However, in my experience, the latter often follows a passion for learning. When I was younger, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. I saw how such a trying time affects everyone in the family, making it very difficult to find joy in simple, everyday things - let alone focus on school. My mom is now in remission and doing well, but this experience changed the way I view education. I started The Neighborhood with the goal of providing a low-stress learning environment that allows students to rediscover themselves as students. My goal is to form a community of enthusiastic learners. I encourage anyone who needs academic support to join our Neighborhood. The Neighborhood is here to offer completely free tutoring, promoting a love of learning and academic success.
